“Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
I spent over 30 years in “corporate America” working for Kraft, Tyson Foods, and Sam’s Club in accounting, marketing, and executive roles. I found my gifts and strengths in strategic thinking, and I’m proud of many innovations and results achieved during that time. When my daughter went to college at NYU, I opted to find an opportunity to be close to her which led me to Catalyst, a global nonprofit with a mission to advance women in the workplace. My eyes were opened to learn about systemic bias and stereotypes in the workplace that hold back women and other marginalized groups. I also perceived God refining me through this experience—to learn what it means to be an inclusive leader. I’m thankful to be led to Workmatters where I can learn and contribute to integrating faith and work, and to help people pursue God’s purpose for their work.
I grew up Presbyterian and tried many churches through the years. I found my home at St. Paul’s Episcopal church in Fayetteville. Since 2014, I have been part of the St. Paul’s prison ministry at the NWA Community Correction Center. On Sunday evenings I go to church at prison and I absolutely love my congregation of these women who are finding God and working to reclaim their lives. It’s a place of divine love, without judgment, and I feel I’m the best version of myself when I’m engaged in this ministry.
