Every day, every moment, we have a choice. We choose what is deserving of our attention. We choose our focus. Consider your state of mind when attention goes to the barrage of emails in your inbox, to the problems you’re facing, to uncertainty about the future. Overwhelmed and under pressure, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to give your best at work.
Imagine the difference it would make if you were able to consciously choose to focus on the presence of the Lord. As believers, we all want to seek God at work, to enjoy His Word and commit to live like Jesus.
Psalm 37:4-5 tells us that when we delight ourselves in Him, He will provide. When we commit to Him, and when we trust Him, He will act. When we’re under pressure or overwhelmed at work, He’ll give us strength to do our BEST at work.
Every day, make it a priority to pause long enough to focus on God’s presence at work. Take a moment to enjoy it, to delight in the LORD. Give your attention to Him, even in this moment. Take your goals, concerns and stressors to Him in prayer. Commit yourself to this as a practice – and trust that, as a result, He will act.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. Psalm 37:4-5 (ESV)
