Preparing for the Season of Advent

Happy Thanksgiving!

Please know that the Workmatters Team is grateful for you and the privilege we have to serve you on your journey of faith and work. It is our prayer that this week you will be able to linger around tables, tell stories, reflect on God’s goodness, and share your gratitude with the people you love.

As you have a day or two off, may God breathe new life into you…may ceasing from work bring the rest you truly need.

Also in this post, I want to point you to the Season of Advent, which begins on Sunday, November 30.

Advent is a season of preparation. For centuries, Christians have spent the four weeks before Christmas readying their hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to anticipate his future return to establish his kingdom. Each week is centered around a theme:

  1. Hope
  2. Peace
  3. Joy
  4. Love

Oftentimes, we relegate seasons like Lent and Advent to church liturgies or personal devotional time. So, we have created a simple resource that helps you experience Advent through a work lens – which makes sense because work is where our hope, peace, joy, and love are most fiercely tested and intensely appreciated. Each week includes short bible readings, reflections, and practical action steps for each workday of the season.
