Workmatters Institute hosts can range from newer believers to seasoned followers of Jesus. Your giftedness should be more heavily considered than how long you’ve been a Christian. This is a shepherding role. However, hosts must be mature enough in their faith to be comfortable with silence, include everyone in the discussion, and be good with saying, “I don’t know but I’ll find out.”
Cohorts of 6-20 people are ideal. Larger groups can also be successful when discussion is split into smaller groups.
Our emphasis is to make faith and work practical and actionable. The content covered in the Institute works together to equip participants with a strong theology of work and the ability to abide in Christ in their work, at their work, and through their work. Our materials and practices are influenced by a variety of ancient and modern Christian traditions, and participants of all denominations (and of no denomination) have felt at home in this experience.
You can host your Workmatters Institute cohort online or in-person. If you choose to host online, you will need to utilize a video conferencing platform: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meets, etc. If you choose to host in-person, you will need a TV or projector with speakers and HDMI capabilities.
All formats of WMI are a 10-session experience.
There’s no need to purchase any additional books or supplies to host. Everything you will need will be in the portal and host guidebook.
The ideal candidate is hungry to grow spiritually and professionally, values purposeful work, is passionate about making an impact on people with their work, and is willing to wrestle with theological concepts and practical ideas.
It would be unfair to other participants to allow someone in your cohort without paying unless your group makes the decision to cover their tuition cost on their behalf.
Absolutely. Businesses find that Workmatters Institute cohorts that meet before work or at lunch have the best success. Business owners can act as the host, or they can choose a point person to champion the Workmatters Institute in their company. Churches can use it to create new small groups or bring focus to existing small groups. The Workmatters Institute will change the way members think about work and the way they engage with your church.
Absolutely! Please reach out to either President and CEO, Brandon Swoboda or Darrel Harvey to talk about how the Workmatters Institute can help your employees live out their faith at work and make an impact on your business through your employees.
Each participant will gain access to a digital version of the Workmatters Institute guidebook upon registration. Physical copies are also available for purchase on our storefront. During each session they will need something to write on, something to write with, and a willingness to commit to the group and the material.
We offer the opportunity for participants to have their company, company owner, or direct supervisor sponsor their institute costs. Please email Darrel Harvey at dharvey@workmatters.org for more details on the sponsorship process.
